New York City trendsetter creates Connecticut charm

Eva Chen was born-and-raised in New York and works as Instagram’s Director of Fashion and Shopping Partnerships. Previously the editor in chief of Lucky, Eva has made a name for herself as a trend-setter. She is a self-proclaimed "through-and-through New Yorker," but as her family expanded she has found new appreciation for the little things like gardening clogs and an extra bit of free time to read a book.

"Eva Chen's social media was typically steeped in shoes, handbags, and the latest fashion trends, but a trip to the countryside left her seeking inspiration for calming interiors. While Eva was used to the hustle and bustle of New York City, she realized quiet time and nature felt like unexplored territory for her and her family. Wanting more time to take it slow, Eva made the leap to renovate of a Connecticut country home for her growing family. The result was a warm and elegant escape, which can be fully explored in the August issue of Architectural Digest."

Designed with family in mind

Eva enlisted the Connecticut-based design firm Hendricks Churchill to create the kitchen of her dreams to surround her Bertazzoni Professional Series Range. The warm hues throughout the kitchen create a serene environment and blend harmoniously with Eva's glossy black range, which features a seven layer luxury automobile finish. Hendricks Churchill also removed partitions throughout the space to yield a multipurpose kitchen, with a dining area, fireplace, and window seat — creating the ultimate location for Eva to watch over her young family while she enjoys preparing meals.

The Charming Escape from Urban Life

Since the family moved into the home in 2020, urban parenting has given way to long, happy country days. “Losing structure has been the greatest gift" says Eva. "I never thought I’d be that person in gardening clogs.”

Professional Series Range

A Bertazzoni Professional Series range in Nero is a statement piece in this inviting country home kitchen. The bold and elegant range serves as a nod to Eva's timeless style — an intrinsic element of Bertazzoni's Italian identity.

The extra wide electric broiler with optional convection creates Eva's favorite oven setting, "Pizza", which she loves to use for heating and serving her favorite slices brought back from New York City.

A kitchen built for gathering

"I'm very much a kitchen person. My cultural roots are centered on food, so the kitchen is the gathering spot. I wanted ours to be cozy" - Eva Chen.
