A Family Retreat Nestled Among the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Yosemite

Few people can claim the unique experience of growing up in Yosemite National Park, and designer Orlando Soria is one of those fortunate. Seeking an oasis, he returned to his roots with the goal of creating a destination for his family to gather and enjoy time together in nature. His vision led to the creation of Londo Lodge, a 1990s structure that he has transformed into a homey, high-end retreat.

Envisioning an authentic yet elegant mountain home from the 1920s, Orlando blended Cape Cod and Craftsman styles to create a traditional, grand kitchen that evokes the cozy comfort of an ivory cable knit sweater. The full suite of Bertazzoni appliances seamlessly integrates with the rustic elements of the space, while small details like the handles and Collezione Metalli accents add touches of drama and luxury, elevating the design to a new level. The ivory-colored enamel finish of the signature range transcends throughout the entire ambiance.

Designing with the Range as the Focal Point

Looking to integrate the appliances into a room with a more historic feel, "the Heritage Series Range was the first thing I chose for the whole space and it dictated a lot of the design" said Soria. The Collezione Metalli mixed metal accents bring a touch of drama and luxury, while the distinctive ivory enamel finish of the Avorio 48” Heritage Range and matching Range Hood inspired the choice of cabinetry and hardware, resulting in a harmonious blend of color and texture.

"I love how the refrigerator, freezer, and wine fridge allowed me to create a really beautiful wall that looks like a large built in armoire. It just gives the kitchen a classic, considered feel and is all the more unique. I chose three 24” columns so there would be enough clearance behind them when the door was open."

"I think generally what separates the Heritage range from a lot of other ranges you'll see is that it has a really strong presence. It’s not neutral, design-wise; it definitely wants to tell a story. The Heritage range feels more like a staple you'll keep forever. For this kitchen, I wanted everything but the range to be panel ready. I did that to drive home the vintage vibe I was going for. I wanted the room to look like a beautiful chef’s kitchen built in the twenties."

"I couldn't have gone with such a pretty, romantic vibe in the room had it not been for the ornate (but not overly so) details on the range. I love the Metalli accents and how they bring in the gold color from the lighting and hardware throughout the space," said Soria. "Having the Heritage handles on each added to the grand feeling created by the beautiful appliances and high ceilings."

Creating Meaningful Memories with Bertazzoni

Located just two miles from Yosemite National Park’s gate, the Londo Lodge symbolizes a homecoming for Orlando and his family. The entire cabin, especially the kitchen, was designed with family gatherings in mind. Nestled in the pine forest, the lush greens with minty gray overtones inspired Soria to use a similar hue on the kitchen ceiling, while keeping the other colors neutral to complement the Bertazzoni Heritage Series Range. These thoughtful details, along with the Soria family's deep connection to Yosemite, create the perfect setting for many years of joyful memories.
